    Fitness and fun in AVL

At this point in the year we are getting a little "stir crazy" staying inside with the wintry weather. And maybe some of you have bathing suit goals for summer. Asheville has a ton of opportunities to get fit and have a great time no matter what that looks like for you. Whether it's weightlifting, dance, boxing, pickleball, or a swim, there's a gym where you can get out of the cold, get some exercise and make some friends too! Here is a list of some of our favorite places to get in shape.

So Mark and I go to WNC Barbell in Candler, NC. If you are looking for somewhere that a variety of equipment and 24 hour access then this place is for you. They also hold silver sneakers, cardio, strength training, and spinning classes. You can also book massages or sessions with a personal trainer. We really like the 24/7 access and it's convenient to everything on the west side of town.

For those looking for Olympic or power lifting, Strength Ratio, is the gym for you located on Riverside Dr. They offer personalized and online coaching as well as training templates so that you can bulk up effectively and safely.

GritFit,  located on Tunnel Rd., is an indoor cycling studio that also does monthly outdoor rides during warmer weather. In addition to cycling, they offer cardio kickboxing, suspension training, HIIT training, Pilates, and Zumba.

For a low impact, full body toning regimen, you will want to try Pure Barre on Hendersonville Rd. This workout focuses on the principles of ballet and pilates to tone and strengthen using body weight, bands, and low weight/high rep workouts in under 50 minutes.

Maybe you would like to get in shape and feel more sexy too! Then try pole dancing classes at Danceclub AshevilleThey offer 4 and 8 week series sessions. Or if you are just looking for a fun day out with the girls, they also have events and bachelorette parties.

As a kid, I always wanted to join the circus (what child doesn't!). At Empyrean Arts, you can! This eclectic studio teaches aerial silks, lyra, trapeze, ropes, and cube. They also offer pole dancing, burlesque, and aerial yoga.

Rock jocks will love Cultivate Climbing on Amboy Rd. They have a ton of indoor and outdoor climbing space, youth programs, and classes and you can rent all of your gear there.

If you are more comfortable with a racquet, join the Asheville Racquet Club. They have 2 locations; one in Arden and one downtown. They have tennis, racquetball, and pickleball. They also have both indoor and outdoor saltwater pools for those who love the water.

I hope that this give you some great ideas for getting out and getting in shape. Asheville has a lot of fun places to get your sweat on and unique ways to do it so get out there and have a great time!
